Packaging Design to Protect Hongmeiren Orange Fruit from Mechanical Damage during Simulated and Road Transportation

Hongmeiren is a high-quality orange fruit but susceptible to mechanical damage. This work proposes new packaging format (Packaging C), which used the plastic partition boards separate folding basket avoid fruits from crushing each other, and PU foam layer placed it along inside of EPE meet different sizes fruits. The results show that under both 3 10 h simulated transportation, Packaging C achieved much lower damage decay rates than A (plastic bulk containers), this was further verified by road transportation. Besides, could dents in peel some large compared gift B). Although use inner increase packaging, can reduce waste cultivation transportation resources caused not being able deliver consumer, as well environmental pollution decay.
